Accountant General harps on Fully Automated Payment System

The Ministry of Finance has restated its commitment towards enhancing the performance of accounting and auditing officers, by transforming all payments into Fully Automated Payment System (FAPS).

This was made known by the state Accountant General, Mrs Shizza Bada during a one-day training session for accounting and auditing officers. The FAPS is an end-to-end payment method implemented by Kaduna State Government as the only recommended payment platform.

“This Payment platform is part of the e-governance process that this administration under able leadership of the Governor, Malam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, lunched some few months ago with the aim of migrating the paper payment process to a digital process which can eventually reduce the cost of governance, eradicate document misplacement and provide proper auditing in the state governance processes,”she said.

Bada further stated that the one-day capacity training is important because it introduces accounting, procurement and auditing staff of all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to the setting up process, log-in procedures, connectivity requirement and creation of payment requests.

She also said that the training will also allow the accounting officers to become familiar with the payment platform for a smooth and efficient transition that will enable the government to achieve full implementation of e-governance for accountability, transparency, and efficiency in public financial management in line with global best practices.

Some of the participants expressed delight that the training came at the right time, especially when the state is fast moving towards being at par with others around the globe.
