A team of contractors from Kaduna State under the leadership of Alhaji Ahmed Baba has arrived Kaduna State Ministry of Finance on a support mission to Kaduna State Government and to pay homage as well as to congratulate the Honorable Commissioner of Finance, Honorable Shizzer Nasara Bada as a first female commissioner of finance in Kaduna State.
While welcoming the team, the Honorable Commissioner, Honorable Shizzer Nasara Bada expressed delight with the coming contractors association to the Ministry, assuring that the ministry operates an open door policy and is the first in transparency and accountability according to IPSAS ranking. The Honorable Commissioner therefore, called on the association to improve its performance as partners in progress.
The Honorable Commissioner further called on contractors to shun any act of given bribe to any staff of the ministry for the processing of contract payments and always report such incidence to the appropriate body.
The Honorable Commission urged the contractors to ensure that they pay taxes at at when due in order to improve the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the state because the state has a lot to cover in the areas of community and infrastructural development to the masses.
The commissioner also reiterated that the present administration have cleared a lot of debt inherited from 1999 to 2015 regardless of party association. The state prioritize older debt settlement before the new ones.
Speaking shortly, the chairman Kaduna State Contractors Association Alhaji Ahmed Baba reiterated that the association was structured to coordinate the activities of all indigenous contractors in kaduna State and the team of contractors are in the ministry of finance to commend the effort of the ministry for its concern and support.
He also commended the effort of the ministry when it comes to payment devoid of personalization and also for payments of contracts in millions in the year 2022.
In his comments, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Finance Lawal A Habib stated that the Kaduna State Government under the able leadership of His Excellency, Senator Uba Sani is seriously committed towards debt resettlement and the Governor is always busy locking for investors that would invest in Kaduna State. He therefore solicited for a strong partnership between government and contractors.
